Hi Tony,

You know, we really don't know much about 43-12252, other than the fact that it was a B model, and he was an instructor pilot at Bartow, Army Air Field, when he flew it. I believe one picture I have of Dean, is in the plane that went down. Unfortunately, it is a close up of him in the cockpit. By the shape and design of the canopy it seems quite likely that it was the B. Dean was in Italy from August 1943, until April, 1944. I have a picture of him standing in front of a plain unmarked A model, and also the picture of him next to the C, with the snooper logo on it.

I think it would be very cool if there was some way of knowing if he did indeed have the logo on his plane. I have the names of the four other men that flew with him that day, and although it is probably about a million to one shot, I will post them and see if anyone has ever heard of them. They each gave a statement regarding the accident. I have the accident report if there is anything technical you would like to know, other than the serial #. Thank you for your interest in this.
Best Wishes,
Karen
