From RAF and RCAF Nose Art in WW 2 by Clarence Simonsen

Halifax B Mk V

DK186 of 427 (Lion) Squadron RCAF coded ZL-L

Named "London's Revenge" it alos carried the name 'Lana Turner'. This was the Halifax that carried the artwork of a flying MGM lion holding a bomb between its front paws (427 ws the only RCAF squadron 'adopted' by a US city - Hollywood California).

There is colour artwork of this aircraft in the book as well but appears no photo!

This aircraft subsequently served with 1664 and 1667 HCU and was lost on 22.4.44 when it swung while taxing at Sandtoft, ran into a ditch and undercarriage collapsed.

(This was from Air Britain's Halifax File)
