Just now finding people and some material on these two aircraft that were shipped to Canada in August 1946. One seems to have been burned and the other may still be in the ground somewhere on the base.
Spent some time talking with one of the curators at the museum and they have some details but no conclusive areas to where it may have been buried.
Hope to speak with the author of War Prizes, Walter Fydenchuck and some old Dehavilland engineers that worked on the aircraft before it vanished. Was looking over some air photos of Downsview around 1950 and there are some areas worth taking a look at next summer. Also came across some files in the National Archives that may hold the key to the final days of the Downsview Swallow.
I will be sure to post any updates.
