Difficult to name a fave rave, but Stephen Grey has always seemed like a bloody good pilot to me !

Three routines that I have been priviledged to witness at Duxford always stick in my mind...........

One was at the end of a Duxford show when all the plebs were going home, and Mark Hanna took the F4U-4 Corsair up for a spin to entertain the few "hangers on" like me leaning on the railings not wanting to go home..........bloody beautiful.

Another was Stephen Grey's routine in The Mk XIV Spitfire MV293, keeping the crowd amused while the Balbo flew off to form up.............superb bit of flying.

The next time was Lee Proudfoot and Ed Shipley doing the "Twin Mustang" routine at the Duxford Spitfire show last year..........brilliant stuff, never seen anything else like it..........not least until the BBMF flight of four Spitfires at the same show........best BBMF display I have ever seen, wonderfully poetic, and it would have been even better if their fifth Spitfire MK356 had not had a sick pilot.....first time ever apparently !

Times like that when you really appreciate the skills involved in flying these old beasts.

Cheers
Mick
