Very good question... it's something that has been bugging me for a long time too. I have asked several restorers what they do with the parts which are left over. The most common response is that they scrap what they no longer need! It really horrified me to hear that, but their justification was that they had no place to store the remains. I can certainly understand it if the parts are so badly twisted and corroded that they no longer represent anything people would either wish to look at, or use even in a static restoration, however, I am sure that there are plenty of people out there who'd like just a piece of an original aeroplane regardless of its condition.

It turns out, however, that many of the parts scrapped though could be used in static restorations, and there lies the rub. It would be nice if there was some way of finding out when restorers no longer need their "scrap" parts, so that they could be passed along to other projects. I wonder how this could be achieved, as I know that some of the projects I have worked on could have benefitted from this sort of help. Anyone out there got any solid ideas?

: I'm talking more regarding other wrecks (or sections/assem
