Ron,
I posted a request a couple of weeks ago on this very subject, as well as the graveyard of our planes left on Morotai til 1988. Tony said Elliott was my source, so I posted for his help. No response from him, though. I can tell you that close to 1,000 B-24s were there, scrapping began in the mid-50s and went on til at least 1960. My question was since most of the island is apparently off-limits to outsiders, what was the chance that a few airframes still exist? I have an amazing picture of another graveyard on Biak, taken in 1948, showing over 200 A-20s, P-47s, P-38s, P-61s and DC-3s.
