Hi Mike--

: I did pick up on some news during the dinner which might i

:
: #1: Although no final plans have been made the museum kno

: rather than be burried in the storage hanger. So there i
: s a good chance we will see it on display after aircraft a

: r.

Stellar news...now if the B-24, P-40 and Battle would meet the same fate...!

: #2: Before all planes go into the new storage hanger the
: Lancaster will be getting some attention. The museum reco
: gnizes that the markings are not accurate (although I don'
: t know those details). There are plans to repaint all or
: part of the Lanc and the new storage hanger will be used t
: o do this.

Interesting. The markings on KB944 are fairly accurate for a 428 Sqn bird; apparently KB944 was not a 428 machine and this may be what's meant. (If we want to talk wild paintjobs on one of CAvM's warbirds, the Spit IX would take the cake in that regard; but as I understand it that, er, loose 1960s take on 421 Sqn livery has been left as was out of respect to the donor, John Paterson, who had NH188 painted that way before gifting the Spit to Rockcliffe).

Any word on (a) how much, if any, of the current "Aladdin's Cave" storage corner will become display space, and (b) whether or not the public will be able to access the new building?

S.
