To my knowledge Walt is still with us, though several aircraft have left his famous collection at Newbury: the F2G is the best known of these but the F-82E, two B-25s, the F-80 and the Curtiss O-52 have moved on too. The F-82 went to the Polar collection, then to C&P Aviation (also in MN); the O-52 (which was incomplete) became part of a project package sold through Courtesy Aircraft last year. I haven't seen Walt since spring 1987, when he drove up to Mt.Hope to buy the gutted nose section of the HP Victor K.2 that had crashed on arrival for the '86 Hamilton show. Had visited his collection twice in the early 80s; both the collection and its keeper were quite extraordinary!
