Wasn't there a bit of controversy when the EAA flew their warbirds? Membership complained that a few pilots were enjoying the aircraft at the expense of membership dues? Plus, weren't most of the warbirds donated to the EAA or are there on long term loan? If that is so, the membership did not use dues-income for their purchase.

Thus the B-17 flies as a membership enhancing operation.(Not defending their 'no-fly' situation, just seeking an explaination.)
