In my opinion, the Stewart S-51 scale reproduction is at the top of my list when it comes to scaled warbirds. It's a shame that the company that produces it has seemingly gone quiet.
I had never truly laid eyes on an aircraft that perfectly embodies the spirit of what a scale warbird OUGHT to be until I spied the S-51 fabricated by Mike VadeBonCoeur at Air Venture 1999 (I believe it was). I'm a little peeeowed that I can't find my photos of it right now. Here's a couple of other examples of the same type of aircraft.

Even if your a purist and aren't fond of replica aircraft, you have to at least admire the metalwork on some of these designs.
