Russ Moynah (sp?), the guy that built it (and flew it only once) sold it. The new owner had a local IA do some engine runs and it caught fire and burned to the ground...
The biggest problem for the project was the engine. Russ was doing engine runs one day at full power, and the tie down ring pulled out of the tail and the airplane nosed over at full power and hit the prop. When the egine was pulled apart, he found out that the engine builder didn't use the premium parts he had paid for years before.
The one time he flew it, he only just barely made it around the pattern due to engine overheating.
Definately a hard luck airplane.
: Speaking of scale warbirds, whatever happened to that very
: nicely done Jurca P-40 that was at Chino many years ago?
: It was in British colors as I recall.
