A long term lurker offers a suggestion. If you haven't been to the National Museum of Transportation, they have a C-47/DC3 near the entrance. I think you could see it without paying admission. That is the only aircraft they have; the museum is mostly dedicated to rail with a few interesting cars. The Museum is located in West County, off Barrett Station Road. There are signs on I-270 a mile or so north of I-44.
