For what it's worth, this was always the plan with N17W anyway. I worked at the MoF back in the late 80s/early 90s when there was some significant talk about the future of the airplane after Bob Richardson's death. Last I'd heard the Richardson estate had court ordered the MoF to only fly the airplane as needed to get it restored and then back to Seattle to go on display in the MoF.
