In my experience corrosion of airframes pulled out of the sea is completely overated. I still have parts of a B-17 we recovered from salt water about 5 years ago, untreated except with cold water, and they look the same they did when we pulled them up.

Obviously you have to take steps to stabilise the remains but it's not an impossible task at all - there was a Bv 138 recovered from the sea of Demark a couple of years back - it has made a fascinating display.

In know Cees has practical experience of this too and would be interested to hear his comments. I know his museum has had problems with their napier sabre that was rescued from the deep.
