Hi Elliott,
I remember coming across an article on this issue, some time ago. I believe, radium covered instruments , come under the "Explosive Ordanance and Dangerous materials" directives from MOD. You actually may require a HAZMAT qualification too!
Whilst it's not impossible to have them, I think there are clear cut guidelines, as to how they have to be handled etc.
