As reported on the 'Ligue Francaise des Avions de Collection' web site:
'12 February 2004 - Orly Airport: This Thursday, wings of Boeing B-17G F-AZDX 'The Pink Lady' operated by the 'Forteresse Toujours Volante' (Tr: Still Flying Fortress) association were fitted back to the fuselage, following their removal on 4 November 2003. In between, the 8 wing mounts have been tested and validated in the US, then corrosion treated prior to reinstallation. All passed the inspection tests requested 2 years ago by Boeing, with the aim of verifying the absence of cracks.
Inspection of the wings interior also revealed the spars being in perfect conditions & The Pink Lady will therefore be able to grace our skies for many years to come.'
This is what I call very good news ;-)
Cheers,
Jacques.
