Where did these come from?

My guess is that the F-18 was surplused or given to a museum as a wreck, so it was never demilled since it was already written off as not repairable. Of course not economically repairable to the military may be different than physically unrepairable for a very limited civilian use.
The Harrier could have come about the same way, or could have been pieced together. It is also possibly an RAF Harrier, since the USMC Harrier was (as I understand it) a UK built Harrier. The Harrier II was built by McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis.
Aircraft like these probably explain why that demil bill comes around every year... Politicians always want to ban what they don't understand!
