Some evidence of aircraft still remaining in various locations, including the VERY heavily mined Egypt/Libya Border. Same goes for the South with Chad. Did anyone ever recover the Free French Blenheim in those parts?

Had a satellite photo I found a year ago I think, which showed what appeared to be a Beaufighter in a revetment. Myself and another Wix user pored over that image for a long time. I thought it might have been the South African Blenheim, pre the locals wrecking it in the late 90's , but he pointed out that the aircraft was surrounded on 3 sides by oil drums, and the shorther midsection was pure Beaufighter. I still think it was a Blenheim!

Another image, showed what was clearly a single seat fighter, east of the Great Sand sea. In those conditions, the definition is excellent.

Date of satellite Images was 1993, but that's from memory, as the original hard disk is fried :(

The reason the Libyans want to conduct guided tours, apart from financial considerations, and you can guess, that certain parties are going to spoil it for the rest of us, is that it doesn't do to have your tourists killed by mines, of which at the last count, there were estimated to still be over a million in the area of interest!

Still, good luck to anyone who gets over there, there is stuff to be found, but you need to be looking off the main routes and tracks, as the locals, have long ago lifted any aluminium in easy acccess.

I still fancy a B-17 in Tunisia :0)
