You guys should know by now that if you want the history of any "civil" operated mustang, give me a call or email.
A-36A 42-83769 NX54954
Everett Hogan of Scottsbluff, Nebraska bought '769 from the War Assets Administration on 2 Apr 1946, to use it for air racing and air show work. In December 1946, the aircraft was given to "Shorty" DePonti, as payment for a P-39Q of his, which had crashed while on loan to Hogan. It was resold the same day to Woody Edmondson of Lynchburg, Virginia, who had the registration changed to NX4E. Woody prepared the Invader for the Cleveland Air Racing season, but he crashed it on 1 Sep 1947 and it was written off. With a lifespan of only 17 months, this makes it one of the least known civilian mustangs.
