Irish Linen Mill Closure

I heard on the news tonight that the last Irish Linen mill at Sion Mills in Ulster (NI) is to close after being under sustained ecconomic pressures from the East for man years.
My question is this: Do many restorers UK/US or otherwise still specify and use Irish Linen where required for coverings? Or have modern equivalents (ceconite? etc) largely superceded it for airworthy maintenance cases & restorations?
