Model query

I really ought to ask this somewhere else, but.....if there's any old model experts out there.....?
T'other day I bought for a fiver (RIP OFF !), from my local junk shop, a very old Revell kit of a Sikorsky H-19 Rescue Helicopter with floats.
Serial number is H227-98.
Scale is unknown because it doesn't say it anywhere, but it looks like 48th scale or what used to be called "quarter scale".
The instructions say Copyright 1955 and it would have cost $0.98 at the time it was issued according to the price list on the instruction sheet.
There is a stand with it (copyright 1953) in the shape of a globe....sort of, which is said to be "The new Revelving Swivel Base", this would have set you back $0.25 (!)if you bought it seperately.
What I want to know is........is this kit actually that old, or would it be a few years later ?
The H-19 was still in service at the time the instructions were written.
I don't suppose anyone knows how much it could be worth ?
Some internal bits have already been painted, badly, but nothing has been glued.
Other kit prices are $0.98 for a B36, B47, B52, B29, B25, B24 or DC-7.....not bad eh ?!!!!!
And $0.98 for a Revell paint (8) and glue set, serial H-1606 ?
TTFN
Mick
Plenty more odd questions where this came from.......
