What you wrote, follows basically the criteria I have read on the subject. While even the term "ace" varies from country to country (German: Experten), in most cases the airplane had to crash or blow up as a result of the action of the guns of the airplane attacking it.
Many aircraft made it back to base, with their crews unharmed, or with WIA or KIA, but the airplanes were sometimes repaired and went back to flight status.
I don't think that any air force would publish the fact that the airplane was so damaged that it would never fly again (at least during war time, and this is just my guess), in order to deny to their enemies, intel on the accuracy of their fire, their tactics, and so on.
The implications behind this thread are delicate, because there are two factions clearly defined, and after almost 35 years, the conflict is still fresh in some memories, and tempers have gotten hot on the subject.
