I format pictures 576 pixels wide (8 inches at 72 dpi) with vertical size irrelevant. Resolution is kept to 72dpi and use jpg format at medium quality (7 in photoshop).

I am currently working on updating the Mosquito, Jet and Helicopter registries. But of course pictures are acceptable for any of the registries (even ones I haven't started yet)
