Local infrastructure is also important...

... by which I mean
a) supply/demand and local price levels. You're not likely to find an airworthy Luscombe in Europe for $ 7,000.
b) How far do you have to drive to get to your airfield? 1 1/2 for me to reach the airfield where my flying club is based.
c) Local restoration/maintenance expertise. A Cessna/Piper shop will lock the door if you show up with something which is fabric-covered and non-Lycoming/Continental powered.
d) Local restrictions/bureaucracy: In Germany you have to fit a silencer to a J3C-65 if you want completely unrestricted flying. Go figure.
e) Local skills. Any tailwheel proficient instructors available?
All of these issues - which apply to me - have put me off aircraft ownership and I think I'll remain a happy C172 renter for the next foreseeable future.
