In reply top Tim is that the O-52 Amjet had for a while? (n/t) posted by B Darnell on Thu Jan 29, 2004 09:02:41 PM

Yes. Before being sold to Fisk, it was owned by Dan Chvatal. Danny also owned the three P-63 aircraft that have been for sale through Mark Clark. Back to the Owl. There was 1 1/2 aircraft. The good fuselage was owned by Walter Soplata, before being acquired by Dan. Dan also acquired a wrecked O-52 from Oregon that had been set down between trees in a forced landing. On one of the wings, a tree acted like a knife and went straight thru the wing. Leaving the stub and outer portion in really good shape. The other wing was pretty torn. Dan had located a replacement wing out of Chicago (IIRC). Don't know if it had ever been on an aircraft. The fuselage during the forced landing was fine until another tree got in the way and the aft end kind of wrapped around the tree. This fuselage had all of the original military equipment still installed, including the extremely rare, hand cranked rear turret. Interestingly enough, there are many parts on the O-52 series that have
P-40 part numbers... ie: tail wheel strut. I talked with Tim the other day and he stated that this one will still take a while to finish. The PV-2 has priority. Alan
