If you read it once again they mean none, not one, nada of the flying warbirds are restored to their origianal WWII and that their are no Combat aircraft left flying.
I have been to a few of Mr. Gillispies BS talks to understamd that he believe we who are invovled in the Warbirds do'nt have a clue. I was at one were someone ask him about this statement and this person point out Cavanaughs B-25. Gillispie responce was it was'n original because it had new skin To this the person pointed out that it was the same grade and type used on B-25 durning WWII.
TIGHAR view and you need to go back and read their newsrags to see is if they could find away they would ground the warbird movement. They are totaly against anyone recovering parts or aircraft. I know for a fact that because of TIGHAR interference that a project to recover airframes and parts from State forest in Calf. was stop. They also are the responable for Swamp Ghost for still sitting in PNG even after Travis AFBM got permission in the early 80s to recover her.
If anyone would like to know how far TIGHAR will go then all you have to do is ask any of use up here in Maine who have been searching for The White Bird. They have said we are a bunch of amateurs who hace know clue at all. If you would like to know what we have been doing I'm sure either myself or Peter Norton or any of us who have been search and doing the research for the past 20 years can show you what we have found.
Yes I'm standing on a Soap Box about this because its bad anothe that the real archaeoloist think that Aviation Archaeology is not for real. We do'nt need some second hand hack who claims he's god gift to Aviation Arch. causing the media to have bad outlook on ALL OF USE be it like myself and others who go out and look for the wrecks or people Aero Trader, Pacific Fighter, Square One ect. who do the RESTORATION.
