Of course, Dave is right, in that the fuselage center section is the heart of the plane and in most cases the ID should remain with that portion of the airframe. The problem of how to identify an aircraft made from various assorted components, attached to a brand newly constructed center section then poses a problem. That is the case with this MILLIE G. It is made up of parts of many mustangs, and a whole bunch of brand new parts, so was given the serial of the only known parts of which the serial was not already being used by some other active mustang.
As a side note. todays first flight of the MILLIE G was cancelled, due to some slightly "dicey" weather in the Fargo, ND area, i.e. freezing rain and high winds. No new date has been set.
