Hi all,
As reported earlier this week we have received a complete BMW 132 engine with propeller that was recovered from a site to the east of Amsterdam where there was a seaplane base during the war. Yesterday we spent the day cleaning the engine and were suprised at the extremely good condition of both the propeller and engine with all cylinders intact and the paint very bright. There are some traces of fire indication the cause of the crash. We are very sure it came from a Arado 196 and we know that several of these came down near the location where the engine was found.
On several cylinders we found plates with the serialnumber as well as the manufacturer. The latter reads:
Eberspacher GMBH, Leipzig
I have never heard of this factory making engines under license, Can anyone of you on this board help?
Cheers
Cees
