Road trip: Oakland to St. Louis, any stops along the way?

I will be making a road trip from Oakland, Ca. to St. Louis in the spring (Easter weekend). As this is a warbird trip (T-6 Texan), any suggestion for places to stop or must see on the way. I will probably take I-80 most of the way. So far, Twin Falls, ID and Casper, WY are planned.

Any birds in a barn or on stick would great.
