I seem to remember comments from a book I was reading, not sure if they were combat storys or test pilot's comments, about how the airflow over the wing of the spitfire would cause the ailerons to rise easing them out of dives when a certain speed had been reached.
: Wasn't there a story about a Spitfire that had been claime
: d to have gone supersonic in a dive?
