Hi Eric--
Muirkirk remembered, indeed...fondly, and much lamented! I made it to that show four times, 1991, 94, 95 and 96. It became more "bigtime" every year, but never lost one bit of its marvelous bucolic atmosphere. Saw quite a bit of "iron" there over time, including the Anderson P-40, the IVA C-45, and the aforementioned Mustang, FM-2, C-54 and C-47. Probably my keenest single memory was of arriving (after coffee and a three-hour drive) with a singleminded purpose to find the nearest loo...which I did, and instantly I was ensconced in the blue plastic porta-john (and utterly unable to alter my location...!) I heard that inimitable SNARL of a Packard Merlin hurtling by overhead. Thus did I miss the (reportedly) spectacular first pass by Jeff Ethell in Wallace Sanders' "Nervous Energy V"...But I sure never missed much else at those lovely, lovely shows. Happy times!
Thanks for the post...
S.
