I read:

"Not much of an Engineer": Autobiography of Sir Stanley Hooker - For those unfamiliar, he was an exceptional powerplant engineer with Both Rolls Royce and Bristol for many years, being involved from Merlin to saving Rolls bacon with the RB211 after being called out of retirement to sort it out! Very good read indeed. Not too technical and not to light either so may suit both tastes quite well.

Also

"Spitfire A Test Pilots Story": Autobiography of Jeffery Quill of Supermarine. Again a great read, really catches the mood of the era and the technical challenges of improving the Spit during wartime. Some hair tingling accounts also of his time with an RAF MET flight out of Duxford where they made 365 MET flights during one year in all weathers and in biplanes.....

"Black 6" : Russ Snadden - Read it three times now, still don't understand why......The BAAAASTARDS!!!
