Randy et al--
I ought probably to be the one person on WIX for whom this is more hot-button than anyone else (just eyeball my email address!)...but instead I find myself weighing in rather pleased to see that this issue is being reasonably and pretty courteously discussed. Not to sound trite...but these things do happen in wartime. And it isn't a "given" that the unfortunate Fury in question was a straight decoy. I doubt the Harrier drivers in the Falklands, for instance, would have held fire on any IA-58s just because they had props on them...! And any number of weird and "wonderful" uses can be made of even a civilian aircraft in the course of waging a war. (Or of starting one: thinking back on how this current round of hostilities began...)
Anyway, a sad anecdote for those of us (which would be all of us) who enjoy old warplanes, and especially so for me and the other Fury fans here. But, as you say, c'est la guerre.
