I am hoping my copy of the Warbirds Directory 4th Ed is under the Christmas tree. In the mean time I have a question that someone here might be able to answer.
The ID of the Me-410 at Cosford seems to be a little vague as different survivor lists indicate slight different IDs. Here is what I thought the Cosford 410's ID is...
Model: Messerschmitt Me-410A-1/U2 Hornisse
S/N: AM72 RAF
W/N: 420730
Owner: RAF Museum - Cosford
Codes: "CC", "C"
History: Me 410A-1/U2 3U+AK Luftwaffe, AM72 RAF
One survivor list has this one as 420430. Another indicates werke number 420420 as well. So I suspect that I have made a typo at some pont, However another list indicates the code "3U+CC". The markings in my photo include "CC", so I suspect that "3U+CC" is accurate, but is "3U+AK" accurate as well in that maybe this 410 wore both at different times.
Are there any Messerschmitt experts out there that can clear this up for me?
Regards,
Mike
