As an idea, I think Carey himself would approve heartily of this; it would depend principally upon the wishes of surviving family members...The airplane in question, though, is not a Spitfire or Mustang, it's a Fury, and as such, a "reincarnation" (read, dataplate restoration) of such a heavily damaged airframe is simply not viable on economic grounds: a Fury (much as it galls me to say it!) just isn't worth enough money.

What I think was happening with this wreck (whether or not it was in fact N56SF) was that it was on its way to a rebuilder...as a package of potentially-usable spares. And as I suggested in another post, if that is the case, at least the wrecked Fury may assist in returning another example of the breed to the air; no bad thing that. And I don't doubt Carey would approve of that as well.
