Yep, specifically the fuselage inside the B-36 was the port fuselage of 44-83887, one of the XP-82-NAs. I have a photo of the serial block. Of course the front end of this looks very much like a P-51H unit...but a Twin it is. Very strangely, on the cowl was the ghostly outline of the name "Betty Jo"--which is the distance-record F-82B displayed for many years at USAFM. I wouldn't have noticed it had not Walt pointed it out--it had been completely stripped off. Yet another curious tidbit from that fascinating place...
