Via Mr. Anderson Subtil from Curitiba, Brazil:
Early this morning, Lt.Col Arthur Braga, the former commander of the "Esquadrilha da Fuma?a" (Smoke Squadron) of the Brazilian Air Force, died.
He was one of the most able acrobatic pilots in the world, and had amassed almots 9000 hours in the T-6 Texan alone. Even at his old age, he still performed flying his own T-6 in Brazilian air shows, where he was loved by the crowds for his astonishing performances. This T-6 had been given to him as a present from the Brazilian AF, in recognition to his many years as the C.O. of the Smoke Squadron.
"Como disse um amigo, os c?us do Brasil tem uma ave a menos voando por ele, mas acaba de ganhar mais uma estrela para brilhar no firmamento." [As a friend of mine says, the skies of Brazil have one bird less flying in them, but they have just gained a new star to shine in the firmament."]
For Anderson Subtil,
Tulio
