I don't really see how the U.K Mod can in any way determine what happens to aircraft wrecks which are not on sovereign territory. The has always been the notion that wrecks containing human remains are treated as war graves . The flaw in this policy is that the Mod can claim 'ownership'
of a machine whereas human remains belong to the next of kin not the Mod. A local coroner in the U.K can order the exhumation of remains if he deems it necessary.
I would argue the point that if known remains are in the ground every effort should be expended to recover them and give them a christian burial.I know of oe instance in the U.K where a landowner has a wreck on his land and human remains are being brought to the surface - it's simply not ethically correct to allow this state of affairs to continue.
