My best experience was spending two full days at the Gardermoen Museum , Norway . I did let them know I was comming from N.Z beforehand. I arrived at Oslo in the evening and was picked up by one of the volunteers and taken to the museum. There I helped pushing around a few of the engines etc , before I was invited to sleep in the nearby barracks for the duration of my stay. Early next moning the museum was opened about an hour earlier than usual , and I was able to climb all over the aircraft , highlight was sitting in the He 111P cockpit [ calling out 'Achtung Spitfeur' to myself ;-)] Later that day I was able to do some work on the then recently recovered Ju 88A-5...although I can't say trying to get 60 year old screws out of wing panels was all that much fun ;-0.
The following day I was taken out to the museum storage hangars , before being taken back to the airport for my onward flight to London.
Worst experience - so far none that rate a mention ;-)
