Hawker Hind L7181 is one of a batch of 50 Hawker Hinds delivered between Sep 37 and Jan 38 by Hawkers, Kingston to Contract 626281/37. Air-Britain volume RAF Aircraft L1000-N999 records this aircraft history tersely
as follows:
L7181 211/ME to Afghan AF 7/39
The aircraft was initially taken on charge by 211 Squadron RAF, very probably at Grantham, then transferred with the Squadron by sea to the Middle East in May 1938 and finally to the Afghan AF after the Sqdn converted to Blenheim Is from May 1939.
In 211 Squadron use, the aircraft would have appeared uncamouflaged, very probably with 211 on the fuselage until the Oct 1938 use of the (previously unrecorded) code AO. The Squadron's use of the Hawker Hind is discussed on my website, on these pages
