I have read a posting in our web-site (LAAHS) where a guy claims that a FW-190-W (Wasserflugzeug) (Hydroplane), operating from merchant vessels, the Seeschlange and the Seegurke, shot down a Mexican AF Vought Kingfisher on 12 April 1945, over the Gulf of Mexico.
Too late in the war, methinks, for any German vessels to be operating in the Gulf Waters, but on top of it all, I have never heard about an "amphibian" or an "hydroplane" version of the Fw-190, and my few books on the subject, do not mention a Fw-190 with floats.
Anyone here knows more about the subject?
HELP!!!
Saludos,
Tulio
