Paul--
I haven't seen that issue yet...look forward to it! Not to horn in but just for interest's sake I'm replying to a post not directed at me...some of this stuff rings bells, so...
: (except JF620)
This'd be the Mk.VIII that was out west late in the war? I saw a photo of that once. A considerable surprise.
is the listed MK292 - Remains after Fire at Hamilton is listed as a Project...
The Confederate (at the time) AF Mk.IX? I think the serial should be MK297; "remains after the fire" would have consisted of the windscreen frame and the undercart struts, and probably the engine bearer frame as well (the Merlin itself was out on overhaul as was the one from the Hurricane, or so I understand). So this would be a total "resurrection". Wow. Never entered my head that anyone would try bringing one back of which there was SO little left! Even the first CWH Mustang (which also "reappeared" after its loss in a fire) had left more tangible remains than this.
and the unknown Mk IX with Peter Godfrey in Florida.. Can you tell us any more.
Is this the new-build T.9 that the late Carey Moore had in mind importing to Canada in 2001? The location and the current owner's name sound right for that one. IIRC it was IDd as MH367.
Cheers--hope to read Peter's FP feature soon!
