I'd do the same. As much as I dream about being the caretaker of a Spitfire or Mustang for a period of time, it would also be very cool to rescue some early jets. I think it would be very cool to have a stable full of MiGs (-15, -17, -19, -21, -29). And when you think of it, it isn't a big stretch to think about preserving a few early F-14s, F-15s, F-16s and F-18s with a few piles of spare parts to boot. I wouldn't be surprised if there are rows upon rows of preserved F-16s and the like at AMARC wait for use as target drones or waiting for the scrap man. You could go see them now, but how many people actually do? Very few I would guess (assume the average guy like me could have access). We often think of the rows of bombers at Kingman after the war and wish we could go back in time an keep one for preservation. We cry about how P-38s were indignantly scrapped on mass at different locations. But how many people reading this thread thought of preserving an F-16 today?

Like Rob, if I only had the money, transport and space... I could be the next Soplata.

Mike
