Maybe it can be regarded this way?
There are two values attached to a warbird.
The REAL VALUE, which is easily established by adding up the bills and possibly indexing to current time.
The IMAGINARY VALUE, which is connected to a number of factors such as history, originality, popularity, quality and, above all, the current situation on the stock exchange.
The problem is that, at times, the IV is lower than the RV. For some types it seems like the IV will never equal the RV and therefore people are reluctant to embark on such a project because they are convinced that they will lose money.
This would mean that an investment in a warbird should follow the same guide lines as an investment on the stock exchange. Long term the market value will increase but if you?re in and out for a short term profit it?s risky business.
