Recovery preference

Hi all,
I was thinking about the following, what makes a certain aircraft wreck so desireable to recover and to restore it, is it personal preference or are there several other factors (money of course, but that is not always the most important thing) that can influence a recovery (or lack of it):
Only theory
Suppose there is a freshwater lake somewhere in a remote region that holds an intact aircraft type, say a multi-engined RAF bomber in complete condition. If the location became known to enthusiasts/restoreres/collectors, what would be the chances of recovery (meaning desireability to get it out) if it were:
A, the only substantially complete airframe of an extinct type, say a Short Stirling, or AW Whitley for instance
B, it is complete but there are already several airframes of this type in museums around the globe
C,if it was an airframe regardless of type but with a very high historic value (because of the pilot who flew her, the raid it took part in etc.)
Have any of you ever thought about this and could you let me know in any of the three cases what you think?
Cees
