There is a deeper issue at stake than just this massive error. It really gets to what's wrong with people in general and in America in particular.
It's the same reasoning that allows the Supreme Court to say that the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed, that prayer in public places is taboo, that "Under God" in the pledge is a "establishment of religion" (by Congress no less) and that the very words of our Founding Fathers are the exact opposite of what they clearly intended based on their writings and letters.
Even deeper and sadder than the folks in Washington doing all this stuff is what I saw on Saturday as I helped out the crew of LSFM's B-17 Thunderbird. VERY few people asked about the history of the planes, or any good questions, in fact the most common question I heard was "was this plane used in a movie?"... What a disservice to all the men who flew it in COMBAT. Also sad was to note the GREAT drop in attendance by WW2 vets this year. I think I only saw maybe 6 or 7 where in previous years I might have seen 50-100.

It's a sad, sad day here...
