A neighbor of mine, while I was in Texas, told me two years ago that when he was stationed in Iceland (the capital) as a military salvage guy, he was climbing up a mtn. there and looked into the ice and saw a fighter plane imbedded deep down. He and his buddy, having nothing more than sterno, tried to melt some ice to no effect. He gave me the location. Anyone interested in a recovery? I am open to lots of recoveries with the right people. I am a pilot but do not own a plane. Found 3 Corsairs for the Navy 3 yrs. ago off San Dieog in 47 ft. of water and 55 ft. On board was the late Capt. John Irrabino (Retired) who was chairman of the Aircraft Acquisitions for the Midway Foundation in San Diego. God rest his soul. A good man and my friend. I found him what he wanted but he never got to see his dream come true of having the "Midway" here in San Diego.
