We need support and loads of it. Lancaster FM212 is not going to last much longer if left on the post. There are now serious concerns over the condition of the outer wing attachment bolts and plates on both wings. If these fail then the outer wing will dropp down or completely come off. There is also serious cracks showing up in the engine mounting bolts that attach the subframes to the main support beans on both inboard engines. This damage can be repaired but not mounted 20 feet up on a pedestal
If anyone would like to show there support in getting this aircraft taken down from her post then please wrtie letters of support to The Windsor Star Newspaper attn Editor
Letters to the Editor protocol:
Letters to the edtior must include an address and your home and/or office phone number. Letters must be fewer than 300 words, and many be edited for clarity and space. The Star reserves the right to refuse material. The address is: Letters to the Editor, The Windosr Star, 167 Fery St. Windsor, Ontario N9A 4M5 Fax (519) 255-5515 or e-mail to letters@thestar.canwest.com
We need as much support as possible as sooner or later something has got to give on the aircraft and we do not wish to stand by and watch as she slowly crumbles apart.
Just so any new members are aware, she is not a stripped out shell. She has 90% of her interior avionics radio radar equipment still fitted and all four engines are complete and unseized and are only missing their respective caberettors.
