lettertype/style as used for stencils on military aircraft

Dear friends,
What's the lettertype/style called as used for stencils on military aircraft ? I do want to mention this in the paperwork that I am preparing for applying the correct stencils to the Harvards of the Royal Netherlands Air Force Historic Flight.
