On the issue of cost, it costs nothing more to do it right than to paint an aircraft in this crass carricature of a military scheme. In this scheme, in my eyes, it ain't a Wildcat any more. It has become a 'sport plane'. It commemerates nothing. No Wildcat ever flew in anything even close to this abomination of a paint scheme. Any number of reference books can be picked up for a few $ which will give details of plenty of authentic schemes, so WHY, OH WHY this obscenity?
